Wiechers Clubsport Rollbars & Cages

Safety is a valuable good. Even the best race drivers can be involved in an accident. In this situation it is good to know that rollbars and cages insure safety. Because they protect the occupants by preventing the car body from deforming on impact and injuring the driver. The cage is a construction of pipes made of metal which is attached in the interior of the vehicle. The Pipes run along the A-pillar and B-pillar, thus reinforcing them in addition.

Further horizontal stretches and a so-called H-strut, which runs behind the seats, complement the pipes. They give the construction the stability and security it needs.

When fixing, one can distinguish 2 procedures, the more common method being screwing. In the process, holes are drilled into the vehicle floor and the metal pipes are screwed inside. The second option are Welding cages, which are completely welded to the vehicle.

Cages reach up to the head height of the occupants in order to maintain a Survival Space in case of deformation. The little brother of the roll cage is the Roll bar. This construction is less complex because it is limited to only one pillar, usually the B-pillar. There are roll bars for numerous car models, such as the Audi TT Quattro 8N, the Mercedes A-Class C176/W176, the BMW 1 Series E87, the VW Golf II and many more.

Roll-over devices are manufactured of aluminium, steel or CrMo steel, but steel is being most commonly used. But in order for a roll cage to be permitted in motorsport and also in road traffic, the design must meet certain requirements. Roll cages that meet the requirements usually come with a Manufacturer’s certificate during delivery.

Wiechers Clubsport Roll Bars

The Motorsport Company Wiechers has set itself the task of optimizing the basic idea of Roll-over devices even further. That’s why the Wiechers experts designed the Clubsport roll Bars. But what distinguishes the Clubsport roll bars from conventional roll bars?

The answer lies in the unique attachment method because Drilling or Welding is superfluous here. The roll bars are only attached to the original seatbelt fastening points or to the seat console. This is made possible by the foot of the Clubsport roll bar, which is designed in such a way that a fortification without drilling is possible. An H-strut and a cross of diagonal pipes complement the vertical tubes of the Roll Bar. Audi A3 RS3, BMW E36 Coupé, Ford Focus II, Opel Adam and Porsche 911 RS are just a small selection of the Vehicles for which Clubsport roll bars are available.
